| If you are coming to the Smoky Mountain area, you might want to visit Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge is located in the mountains of East Tennessee just minutes from Knoxville and the McGhee-Tyson Airport. From Pigeon Forge, there are several easy entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Nearly 10 million visitors come to the park each year. Pigeon Forge attracts millions of visitors each year with its family oriented entertainment including Dollywood, outlet shopping, Miracle Theater, go-carts, minature golf, arcades, shows, rides and much more. Pigeon Forge is an easily a one day drive from most cities in the Southeast and Northeast.
Pigeon Forge is now home to over 4000 residents Today, Pigeon Forge is home to many annual events including Grand Rod Run, Shades of The Past car show, Winterfest light displays, verterans parade and freedom celebration and many other activities during the year. In October, the leaves start to change and the Fall Foliage brings many visitors to the Smokies for a spectacular display. but started as a small settlement in the 1790's. It was originally named after the passenger pigeons that were aboundant in the area. Isaac Love established the first iron forge along the banks of The Little Pigeon River and his son constructed the now famous Old Mill which has become a popular toursit stop. It is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is still operational today.|
